Volunteer Requirements

Volunteer Requirement Policy – Westcoast Bound Event

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Westcoast Bound! We have established the following requirements and guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful volunteer experience. Please take note of the important information below::

New Prerequisites for Volunteering:

Due to several instances of volunteers not showing up for their shifts last year, we have adjusted our volunteer intake process. To volunteer at Westcoast Bound, you must fulfill at least one of the following requirements:

  1. Previous Volunteering at Westcoast Bound: You have volunteered at Westcoast Bound in a previous year.
  2. Experience with Encrypted Events: You have volunteered at another event organized by Encrypted Events.
  3. External Conference Volunteering: You have volunteered at another conference-style event (such as Kinkfest, Pandemonium in the Prairies, Leather Reign, etc.). We require a reference from either the volunteer coordinator or the lead of the team you were part of.

We understand that these new prerequisites may be frustrating for those who rely on volunteering as a way to attend Westcoast Bound without the financial burden of purchasing a ticket. However, these changes are essential to prioritize the smooth production of the event and improve the reliability of our volunteer team.

Registration Dates:

    • Volunteer Registration: Opens on August 15th.
    • Dungeon Facilitator Registration: Opens on October 1st.

Registration Requirements:

  • All individuals interested in volunteering must register to be considered for a position.
  • Returning volunteers need to register again to be considered for this year’s event.
  • If applying as a Dungeon Facilitator, you must complete the Dungeon Facilitator application, even if you have applied as a general volunteer.

Cancellation and Absence:

  • If you are unable to fulfill your volunteer commitment, please provide a one-week notice to allow us sufficient time to find a replacement.
  • If you cannot make your scheduled shift, attempt to find another volunteer to cover for you.
  • Failure to notify us and not attending your shift without prior communication will require you to hand in your pass.
  • If you participate in workshops or other event activities without fulfilling your volunteer shift, you will be asked to hand in your pass and your future volunteer eligibility may be affected.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with these policies as they contribute to the overall success of Westcoast Bound. If you have any questions or concerns regarding registration, cancellations, or any other volunteer-related matters, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, Ainsley Wynter, the Volunteer Coordinator.

Thank you for your dedication and support in making Westcoast Bound an unforgettable experience!
